Adult Transition Program (ATP) -
Ensuring Success

El Rancho Adult Education Center - Adult Transition Program (ATP)When compared to their non-disabled peers, students with disabilities enroll and complete post-secondary education programs at half the rate. They are employed at approximately one-third the rate of their non-disabled peers.

El Rancho Unified School District (ERUSD) considers these post-secondary gaps unacceptable for our students with disabilities.

Currently, the El Rancho Adult Transition Program serves approximately 30 students with disabilities between the ages of 18 to 22, with the primary purpose of preparing adult students with disabilities for post-secondary education, training, and employment opportunities, while strengthening their independent living and self-advocacy skills.

One of the primary barriers identified during the District’s initial analysis is the lack of workplace settings and business partners associated with our program. In an effort to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s workplace, ERUSD is seeking opportunities to partner with additional businesses and or non-profit organizations within the Pico Rivera community. Our goal in creating these partnerships is to match students with appropriate employment and training opportunities, while also providing support to employers and students in order to facilitate a mutually successful experience.

Although our adult students have an ultimate goal of paid employment, many are willing to work as unpaid interns.
